Recommendations
Food - Eukanuba Large Breed Puppy
Crate - Large or X-Large
Flea Treatment - K9 Advantix or Advantage
Heart Guard (heart worm preventative) - Generic or name brand is fine.
Bowls - Some Vets recommend you feed them elevated and some don't. We think
you should speak with your vet about this. Then decide for yourself which would be
best for your doodle.
Collar - We prefer the use of lead harness or a full body harness. A collar will work
but the others give you better control. We absolutely do not recommend choke
chains or spike collars. These can be very harmful to your doodle and with proper
training you should never need them. Your doodle should be around 15-18lbs when
you take him/her home at 8 weeks old. This will help you to get the right starter
collar.
Toys - They can have nothing smaller than a mans fist. The same as a baby a doodle
can choke. Be safe and get larger toys for them. We highly recommend the Kong toy
in Large or bigger. Never get the small ones.
Plants - As a precaution please check if any plants in your yard or house are
poisonous to animals before bringing your new puppy home. You usually can find out
on the Internet or if in doubt ask your vet.
Spay or Neuter - It is required by our contract that your puppy must be spayed or
neutered. Your vet should do this around 6 to 8 months old. You also don't want your
doodle to reach sexual maturity and its much better if they have this done before
that time.
